Reverse Logistics

Clinical Research is all about going forwards. Even when things need to go back.

COREX Logistics deliver – but we also collect and return. We’re experts in Reverse Logistics - a vital function in any supply chain.

Reverse Logistics, by definition, is pretty straightforward – it's a type of supply chain management that moves goods from customers back to the sellers or manufacturers. It’s extremely important from an economic, environmental and regulatory point of view.

In practice, however, it’s a complex process that requires a specialist touch at every stage. It must be performed carefully, thoroughly and with complete accountability throughout. Considerations include traceability, keeping costs low and security. It must be planned from the outset, regulated thoroughly and efficient records must be maintained.

COREX Logistics will remove or accept drugs, equipment and clinical trial materials from research centres using the same care and consistency of quality that we apply to all the services we offer.

HOW DO WE DO IT?

  1. Before starting a study, we examine all available information to determine risk factors and then decide to accept the goods individually or locally. Taking into consideration drug or country-specific challenges, we then create a bespoke plan for each client to meet their specific needs.

  2. We gather relevant information from the client – when is the desired return time, what’s to be returned, how much and from where.

  3. We then agree and sign off our plan, including clarification of elements like whether additional packing materials are needed and what space is required for storage.

  4. Once we have the cargo, transportation with temperature control takes place and quarantine requirements are carefully observed while we store each consignment before transferral for destruction

  5. Specialist personnel take charge at every stage:

  • an operator is engaged in unloading from the vehicle and placing in the receiving area;

  • a logistics specialist carries out direct acceptance;

  • a pharmacist or pharmacist performs final verification of the return.

At every step of the way, the COREX team treats materials to be returned with maximum care and attention, using the latest in technology and cold-chain delivery and the expertise of our dedicated team. Accountability and efficiency are always key to what we do – and we are always going forward, even when we’re taking things back.
